WHAT IS PUBLICALERTS?
Emergency Alerts to Keep You Safe
PublicAlerts sends emergency alerts via text, email, or voice message. It's a *free service for anyone who lives, works, or visits the Portland-Vancouver Region. Personal information is kept secure and private. (*Message and data rates may apply depending on your provider and phone services.)
There Are Several Types of Alert Systems
PublicAlerts is an opt-in system that Emergency Managers can use to send alerts to small, targeted areas. But there are other kinds of alert systems, and it's helpful to understand the differences. Read About Alerts for answers to common questions.
FIND YOUR COUNTY
Each County Has a Different System
Each county uses a separate PublicAlerts system. Find your county, and follow the link to sign up. If you spend time in multiple counties, sign up in each county's system.
Can I Text My Zip Code to 888777?
No. Some parts of Oregon, you can text your zip code to 888777 to sign up for emergency alerts. In the Portland Metro Area, we do not use that system. If you try it, it will seem like you are signed up. But the only way to sign up for Portland area alerts is through the links below.
